Leaders IT is seeking an Associate Data Engineer to join our award-winning Capacity Uplift Program. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate, early-career professional or junior consultant to gain hands-on enterprise experience and develop their skills across modern Data Engineering, Automation and AI.
You’ll work alongside an established Data & AI team, contributing to a major data modernisation journey while receiving ongoing professional support and development.
About the role
This is not a traditional junior support role. We’re looking for someone with strong potential who is curious, technically capable and keen to build their career in a modern and evolving Data & Analytics environment.
You’ll gain hands-on exposure to:
• Azure and Databricks data engineering
• Data pipelines, ETL/ELT, data quality and data modelling
• Microsoft Fabric and the broader Microsoft data ecosystem
• DevOps, Git, CI/CD and modern engineering practices
• AI-assisted development and emerging AI technologies
• Production support and continuous improvement
• Working directly with technical and business stakeholders
Skills & Experience
• 1–2 years’ experience in data engineering, analytics, software engineering or a related technical field
• Recent graduates with relevant qualifications and practical project experience are encouraged to apply
• Exposure to data, programming, cloud technologies, databases or software development
• Genuine interest in Azure, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, AI and modern data technologies
• Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity and a willingness to learn
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
We’re not expecting deep experience across every technology. We’re more interested in your aptitude, curiosity, technical foundation and ability to learn quickly.
Culture and Benefits
• Dedicated Professional Mentor to support your technical and professional growth
• Hands-on experience working as part of an enterprise project team
• Exposure to modern Data Engineering, Cloud, Automation and AI technologies
• Permanent employee entitlements including annual leave, public holidays, sick leave, long service leave and salary sacrifice options
• An opportunity to build the foundations for a long and successful career in technology
Leaders IT pride themselves on the continuous support and development of their consulting staff, with a dedicated consultant care team maintaining a proactive relationship with onsite consultants.
Peoplebank and Leaders IT are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone belongs. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. If you need adjustments to the recruitment process due to your circumstances, please let us know—we’re here to support you.
