About the role:
We’re looking for a skilled Kafka Engineer to join our dynamic team and help build scalable, event-driven data solutions. In this hands-on role, you’ll design, implement, and support Apache Kafka-based architectures that power real-time business needs across the organisation.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement event streaming solutions to meet various business needs.
  • Collaborate with teams to apply integration best practices across services.
  • Foster a culture of reliability, including defining SLAs, error budgets, and incident management processes.
  • Conduct deep investigations into production incidents, and apply learnings to improve code and systems.
  • Ensure platform scalability and future-readiness by proposing innovative solutions.
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate cross-team changes and integrations.
  • Contribute to observability best practices and support organization-wide reliability goals.
Required Skills Core Technical Skills
  • Strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka (including Kafka Streams, Kafka Connect, kSQL DB, and Schema Registry).
  • Experience with Apache Flink and event streaming patterns.
  • Proficiency in stream processing and enterprise data integration.
  • Experience in database interactions for data extraction, insertion, and updates.
  • Familiarity with IAM protocols: OAuth, OIDC, SAML, LDAP.
  • Scripting and programming with Terraform, Kustomize, Bash, JavaScript, and Java.
  • Performance tuning of Kafka-based solutions (Consumers, Producers, Topics, kSQL, Flink).
Bonus Skills
  • Confluent certifications (Administration/Development).
  • Experience with Confluent Kubernetes Operator.
  • Development of custom Kafka connectors and Kafka Streams API applications.
  • Understanding of resiliency patterns: load balancing, throttling, back pressure, circuit breaking.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols: TCP, HTTP/2, WebSockets.
