Messaging Specialist / Technical Support
Federal Government Projects
Location: Sydney Based (100% Onsite due to the project’s nature and security requirements)
Engagement: Initial 12-month contract with potential extension

We’re seeking NV2-Cleared Messaging Specialist / Technical Support to join a leading IT service organisation supporting Federal Government client/projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide expert messaging support and resolve complex technical issues for mission-critical IT systems in deployed Defence environments, ensuring system functionality under connectivity constraints.
• Manage and maintain secure messaging infrastructure and Minerva systems, including patching, upgrades, user account administration, and digital certificate compliance.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, build guides, workarounds, and contingency plans to support ongoing system operations in adverse or degraded conditions.
• Collaborate with partner teams and vendors to troubleshoot incidents, support system builds and deliver training and mentorship to onsite and ship CIS technical staff.
• Participate in on-call rotations for high-priority incident resolution, ensuring rapid response and continuous system reliability.
Skills & Experience
• Experience working in Defence as a Messaging Technician / Support
• Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining Messaging Infrastructure across distributed environments
• Demonstrated experience in integrating complex ICT infrastructure software and applications with Messaging infrastructure
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of:
o Exchange and AD administration
o Message Transfer Agents
o Microsoft Skype administration
o XMPP chat tools
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to collaborate with team members and stakeholders
Clearance and Credentials
• Must be an Australian Citizen with an active NV2 security clearance(or higher) or ability to obtain NV2
Other requirements
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations, with occasional after-hours or weekend work
• DSN access and ability to comply with US ITAR regulations due to handling export-controlled ICT products
