The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Platform & Cloud) to play a key role in evolving and modernising the company’s core digital platform. This is a hands-on role for an experienced engineer who enjoys working across platform, cloud, and backend systems, and who is comfortable influencing technical direction while staying close to the code. You’ll work alongside a capable engineering team and help guide the ongoing modernisation of a long-lived, business-critical platform.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Building and evolving a modern digital platform using Node.js, TypeScript, and React
• Helping modernise and simplify legacy systems, including migrating services from Java/.NET to Node.js
• Working closely with AWS-hosted infrastructure, contributing to decisions around scalability, security, and reliability
• Improving DevOps practices such as CI/CD, monitoring, observability, and infrastructure automation
• Remaining hands-on with development, technical design, and code reviews
• Supporting and mentoring other engineers, contributing to a strong and collaborative engineering culture
• Partnering with product and other stakeholders to deliver meaningful platform improvements
• Capturing and sharing knowledge to reduce risk and improve long-term maintainability
What We’re Looking For
• Strong experience as a software engineer working on production systems
• Solid capability with Node.js and modern JavaScript / TypeScript
• Experience working across backend services and React-based front ends
• Exposure to cloud-hosted platforms, ideally on AWS
• Familiarity with DevOps concepts such as CI/CD pipelines, automation, and monitoring
• Experience modernising existing systems or working with legacy platforms is highly valued
• Experience with IoT, real-time systems, or device-driven platforms is a bonus, but not essential
• A pragmatic, collaborative mindset and a genuine sense of ownership
